Chinese Creative Tourism

This summer, chinese citizens groups spent creative holidays in Barcelona and Catalonia. During their stay, in addition to more conventional tourist activities, they enjoyed a singular approach of local culture, thanks to a serie of creative activities from performing concerts, to participating to artcrafts workshops through meetings with local artists.The media echoed this new way of experiencing the city and its culture.

Barcelona Creative Tourism
promotes encounters between foreign students and local artists

Last Thursday, about sixty students from various European countries took part in a “route” through Raval neighbourhood that gave them the opportunity to discover “hidden” art studios as well as to exchange with the local artists. They also showed creativity taking pictures they exhibited by night.

This activity, coordinated by Barcelona Creative Tourism , was proposed within the framework the Barcelona Winter University organized by Atlas centre of the University of West England.

	Cheap art party August 1st - 30th
Cheap art party is a col•lective exhibition organized by Duduá gallery (Barcelona) and Suunnitelma B gallery (Turku - Finland). This August, Duduá gallery will present works of ten spanish and ten finnish artists. The same exhibition will take place in Turku, next December. Successful concert by the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra in Santa Maria del Pi church

Last Saturday, Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra performed a unique concert in crowded church of Santa Maria del Pi, situated in Barcelona Gothic quarter.
These young musicians offered a splendid interpretation of fragments of famous operas, themes of spanish classic repertory, as well as musicals form Broadway.

The concert, performed by the Illinois Wesleyan University Collegiate Choir, last Thursday in Santa Maria del Pi church, was very successful. 44-voices choir, directed bt Dr. J. Scott Fergusson offered a thrilling concert to a numerous and enthusiastic audience.

The 44 voices of Illinois Wesleyan University Collegiate Choir will offer a unique concert in Barcelona, under the direction of Dr. J. Scott Ferguson.

This will take place on Thursday, May 15th at 20.30h at Santa Maria del Pi church.

The 44-voice choir is composed of student musicians representing the School of Music and other areas of the University, and is dedicated to the performance of the finest sacred and secular choral music of the past five centuries.

- 21h: Concert by SOM choir (Barcelona) and la Cima Vezzena (Italia) at St. Gaieta church.

- at 20:30: Concert by chorals Canticorum (Barcelona), Gia' Quinto (Italia) , The Killer Singers (Irland) at Sant Mateu church .

Concerts are free except the entrance at Poble Espanyol.

Founded in 1874, La Sirène, Orchestre d'Harmonie de Paris, is an institution within youth orchestras.

La Sirène will perform two concerts in Barcelona:

- on Monday, 20th of Agost, at 19:00h at Ciutadella Park.

Tudhoe Grange School Concert Band visits and performs in Barcelona

This youth band will offer an interesting concert on Monday 23rd of July at 20h in the cloister of Seminary of Barcelona.

"International Choral Days", Singing week in Barcelona is an important festival which has been organized for 42 years.

Every year it gathers around 500 participants from around the world that rehearse in the afternoon under the direction of prestigious conductors.

The participating choirs offer various concerts in singular places of the city.

The final concert is celebrated within the unique framework of the modernist " Palau de la Música Catalana".

Workshops:
- Masters of the School of Montserrat, Gregorian chants, Cuban repertory, Francis Poulenc themes.

Open to choirs as well as individual singers. Experience required.

Jam sessions Rock' n Roll in the Big Bang Bar Jam Session's at Big Bang Bar are every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sundays from 22:30 to 01:00.
If you want to play in these jam sessions you have to bring your instrument and complements, drum sticks for example, (if necessary). The person in charge of the jam’s coordination will take care of you so you will be able to play.

Bing Band Bar offers the following equipment for you to play: Two guitar amplifiers, one bass amplifier, basic structure of a drum set, synthesizer, autoamplified multitrack sound mixer and four cabinets.
